The University of Cádiz ( Spanish : Universidad de Cádiz ) short UCA - is a state university in the southern Spanish city of Cádiz with 17,280 students and 1,500 academic staff ( 2008 ).

The University of Cádiz was founded on October 30, 1979 and is the particularly shaped scientific center of the region due to its location on the Atlantic Ocean with a focus on the Faculties of Medicine and Marine & Nautical :

  • the medical faculty goes back to a Royal Naval Medical College founded in the city in 1748 .
  • The center of the nautical faculty is the Centro Andaluz Superior de Estudios Marinos (in German: Andalusian University Center for Marine Sciences) (CASEM), which offers degrees in the fields of marine science, nautical science and marine engineering.
