José Luis Oltra (born March 24, 1969 in Valencia ) is a Spanish football coach .

Player career

José Luis Oltra's footballer career was relatively short and, with the exception of the two years at CE Sabadell in the Segunda División, it was always part of non-professional teams. He played in Segunda División B for FC Elche , UD Levante and Yeclano Deportivo, among others . He ended his career after only nine years at the age of 32 with the Tercera División -Club Ontinyent CF after receiving his coaching license.

Coaching career

The beginnings

His first coaching station was the amateur club Catarroja CF in the amateur league Regional Preferente with which he was third. In the following season, the Segunda División B - Club CD Castellón decided to use the services of José Luis Oltra. There he reached first place in the two years of his contract period, then fourth, but both times without reaching promotion to the play-offs.

Levante UD

In the summer of 2004, Oltra moved to the B-Team of Levante UD with whom he reached the play-offs for promotion to the Segunda División . When the coach of the first team, Bernd Schuster , was dismissed shortly before the end of the season, José Luis Oltra was given the opportunity to replace him as head coach. He could not prevent relegation in the last four games of the season, but he got the confidence to lead the club back into the first division. Ten game days were only played in the 2005/06 season before he was dismissed and replaced by Mané.

Last years

At the beginning of the 2006/07 season, José Luis Oltra was coached by the ambitious second division club Ciudad de Murcia , after they missed promotion in fourth place last year. Oltra also reached a respectable fourth place in the table with his team - the best position ever in Murcia's short history. When the club was re-established as FC Granada 74 , Oltra left the club to stay with CD Tenerife in the Segunda División . In 2010 he took over the office of UD Almería , when bottom of the table in the Primera Division and a 1: 3 home defeat against Athletic Bilbao , the club split from Jose Luis Oltra and hired Roberto Olabe .
