The FC Granada 74 was a Spanish football club from the city of Granada . The club was created from a merger of two clubs, the CP Granada 74 , an amateur club from Granada and Ciudad de Murcia , which was renamed and moved to Granada. He played five seasons in the Segunda División .
history
In June 2007 it was announced that a Madrid investor based in Granada named Carlos Marsá second division Ciudad de Murcia took over, renamed it and re-established in Granada as FC Granada 74th This case is comparable to that of the English club Wimbledon FC , which was changed to Milton Keynes Dons . All players who were under contract with Ciudad were given the opportunity to join the new club or to change clubs for free. In the end there were only eight players left who decided to join the new club and so an almost completely new team had to be put together.
In contrast to the first team, the B-Team broke away from the new investor and was the first team in the Tercera División to be re-established as CA Ciudad de Lorqui .
Since Carlos Marsá acted as president of CP Granada 74, it was initially assumed as if one wanted to buy a promotion, since their own club only played in the Tercera División last year . CP Granada 74 did not disappear, however, but was integrated into the new club as the reserve team of the new FC Granada 74. There was also a collaboration between CP Granada 74 and the new FC Granada 74 with various youth teams and in other sports.
Initially, both FIFA and UEFA as well as the Spanish soccer association RFEF opposed the renaming of the club. The Spanish Football League LFP and the Spanish Referees Association, however, supported the decision of the club. Ultimately, the LFP won the dispute before the international sports court . Granada 74 FC played their first official game on August 25, 2007 away from Cádiz FC . The new team achieved their first victory in the Copa del Rey on September 5, 2007 against Sporting Gijón . Although they spent a large part of the season in the secured middle of the table, the club had to relegate from the second division again after a year, followed by relegation to the Tercera División the next season. As a result of financial problems, the club dissolved in summer 2009.
Stadion
The FC Granada 74 played in the Estadio Escribano Castilla in Motril , which has a capacity of 4,400 spectators. The stadium was inaugurated in 1997. Originally, the newly founded club applied for its games to be played in the Estadio Nuevo Los Cármenes , but since this is already being used by two other teams, Granada CF and its reserve team Granada Atlético , the authorities rejected the club's request.
