Néstor Raúl Gorosito , nicknamed "Pipo", (born May 14, 1964 in San Fernando del Valle de Catamarca , Province of Catamarca ) is a former Argentine soccer player and now soccer coach .
Career as a football player
After Néstor Gorosito enjoyed his football training at River Plate , he was accepted into the professional squad in 1982. There he developed into a regular player in 1985/86. This season he was able to record his first career highlight with winning the championship in the Argentine Primeran División . In the summer of 1988 he moved to CA San Lorenzo de Almagro , where the midfielder made a name for himself as a goal getter, which was reflected in the win of the Argentine top scorer in 1988/89; in 37 players Gorosito scored 21 goals.
It should go quickly for him, because in addition to his debut in the Argentine national team , this led to the transfer to the Austrian Bundesliga club FC Swarovski Tirol , the split-off professional division of FC Wacker Innsbruck , where he had a world- famous coach in Ernst Happel . With the Tyroleans, he became Austrian football champions in 1989/90 and played seven games in the UEFA Champions League . In 1991 Gorosito was voted Austria's Footballer of the Year .
After FC Swarovski Tirol was dissolved in the summer of 1992 and reintegrated into FC Wacker Innsbruck , Gorosito left Austria and returned to his homeland to CA San Lorenzo de Almagro. In January 1994 he moved to the Chilean first division club CD Universidad Católica . There he also made headlines and after winning the Copa Interamericana - in the final, CD Saprissa was defeated 5-1 in the second leg after a 3-1 defeat in the first leg after extra time - was also voted Footballer of the Year 1994. Nevertheless, he signed a contract with the Japanese first division club Yokohama F. Marinos in the summer of 1995 , but only made six appearances there by the summer of 1996, in which he scored three goals.
In the summer of 1996 Gorosito moved a third time to CA San Lorenzo de Almagro, where he played until the summer of 1999. In 1997 he played his last game for the Argentine national team. In 1999 he signed another contract with CD Universidad Católica. At the end of the 2000/01 season, he ended his active career.
Career as a football coach
After Gorosito completed his training as a football coach , he took up his first post in the summer of 2002 at the first division side River Plate in Buenos Aires . There he was able to save the club from threatened relegation. This seemed to be the start of a successful career, but his subsequent engagements were disillusioned. In his subsequent engagements at CA San Lorenzo de Almagro and CA Lanús , he was dismissed. The following coaching stations each only lasted one year; that at the Spanish first division club Deportivo Xerez only six months. This was followed by further short-term engagements with the Argentinos Juniors , CA Tigres , again the Argentinos Juniors and UD Almería , all of which lasted less than a season.
Since 2019 he has been a trainer at CA Tigre again.
