Nicole Billa (born March 5, 1996 in Kufstein ) is an Austrian soccer player . The striker plays for TSG 1899 Hoffenheim and the Austrian national team . In 2021 she was named Footballer of the Year in Germany and Austria.
Career
societies
Billa started playing soccer at the age of five and joined her hometown club SV Angerberg in the summer of 2003 , where she played in boys' teams up to U-15 and only then in women's teams. She attended the National Center for Women's Football in St. Pölten . In addition to soccer, she also competed in kickboxing and is multiple world champion in the junior women's division.
In the summer of 2010, Billa moved to FC Wacker Innsbruck , for whom she made her debut in the ÖFB Cup in November 2010 at the age of 14 and was regularly used in the Bundesliga from March 2011 . In 2012 she reached the ÖFB Cup final with her team , where they lost 4-0 to SV Neulengbach . For the 2013/14 season , Billa signed with league competitor FSK St. Pölten, with whom she won the runner-up in 2014 and also won the ÖFB Cup . With 24 goals, the striker was the top scorer in the league this season ahead of Nina Burger (22 goals) and also scored the most goals in the cup with eight goals. Against ASD Torres Calcio , she made her first two appearances in the premier class in the sixteenth finals of the Champions League in October 2013 and immediately scored her first two goals in this competition at 2-2 in the first leg.
For the 2015/16 season she moved to the German Bundesliga club TSG 1899 Hoffenheim . On January 19, 2021, she extended her contract until 2023.
National team
In 2011, Billa was appointed to the Austrian U-17 national team for the first time and was used for this, among other things, in the qualification for the European Championships in 2012 and 2013 . She qualified for the 2014 European Championship for the U-19 national team . On October 26, 2013, at the age of 17, she made her senior national team debut in the World Cup qualifier against Hungary and scored her first two goals for the senior national team on June 19, 2014 in the Austrians 3-0 win against Kazakhstan .
Four years later, she and the team finished Group 8 in the second qualifying round for the 2017 European Championship as runner-up behind Norway and qualified for a significant tournament for the first time after winning the Cyprus Cup as the first participant a year earlier . The team reached the semi-finals at the Women's Euro 2017 .
