Genoveva Añonma Nze (born April 19, 1989 in Kuso ) is an Equatorial Guinean soccer player .
In the German Bundesliga she scored a total of 100 goals for Jena, Duisburg and Potsdam, with which she won the top scorer cannon in 2011/12.
Career
In the club
Genoveva Añonma began playing football in their homeland Equatorial Guinea in the capital at her home club SA Malabo. She moved to Jena in January 2009 and signed a contract with FF USV Jena . At first she missed her new club due to visa problems and the associated lack of a game permit, so she traveled to Malabo again on February 14, 2009 for the time being. Añonma was also one of three nominated players in the election for Africa's Footballer of the Year 2008. On February 17, 2009, Jena was allowed to play, so she made her debut against 1. FFC Frankfurt on February 21, 2009 , she was in the starting line-up and played the 90 minutes. On March 15, 2009 Añonma scored her first goal in the women's Bundesliga against VfL Wolfsburg , she scored in the 68th minute. The top scorer in the second half of the season in Jena then extended her contract until June 30, 2011. On June 6, 2011 it was announced that Añonma would switch to the 2011 German champions 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam on June 30, 2011 . On her debut for her new club, she scored the first two goals in a 4-0 home game against Hamburger SV on August 21, 2011 (1st matchday) .
In May 2015 she moved to the USA for Portland Thorns FC. At the turn of the year 2015/16, Portland and Añonma separated.
She spent the 2016 season in the South Korean first division at Suwon FMC WFC . On November 12, 2016 Atlético Madrid announced the commitment of Añonmas to the second half of the Primera División Femenina de España . The striker only made three appearances for Atlético Madrid due to an injury, but her club won the La Liga Femenina championship by three points over FC Barcelona . After the championship with Atletico Madrid, Añonma left Spain again in the summer of 2017. This was followed by half a year in Israel with Maccabi Kishronot Hadera , where she scored one goal in 6 games. Until she moved back to the Allianz Women's Bundesliga in January 2018, this time to MSV Duisburg , where she received a contract until the end of the 2017/18 season with the option of an extension. She scored three goals in 12 games, with which she made 100 Bundesliga goals and helped the club to leave the relegation ranks. However, the contract was not extended and Anonma returned to her home country and joined the Leones Vegetarianos FC . In early 2019, she moved from there to league rivals Deportivo de Evinayong .
In the national team
Añonma has been with Equatorial Guinea since 2002 , made her debut at the age of 13 and played her first Africa championship in 2006 in Nigeria . She was a national team player and led her country as captain to the 2008 Africa Championship. Here, the offensive midfielder was the top scorer and was named player of the tournament. As captain, Añonma represented Equatorial Guinea when her country participated in a soccer World Cup for the first time and was used in all three preliminary round matches. On July 3, 2011, she scored the first goal for Equatorial Guinea in a women's soccer World Cup . After three defeats, Equatorial Guinea was eliminated in the preliminary round. In 2016, the longtime captain of Equatorial Guinea resigned from the national team.
background
For several years now, the gender of Añonma has been the subject of intense discussion , especially among the member associations of the Confédération Africaine de Football . After the African Cup of Nations in 2010 , the associations of Ghana, Nigeria and South Africa, among others, filed an official objection against Añonma and her national team colleagues Bilguissa and Salimata Simporé , as they are clearly supposed to be men.
There was also confusion during the World Cup about the spelling of her name, as she is listed as "Anonman" in the FIFA statistics and her shirt was flocked in this way. According to Añonma, the spelling of FIFA is based on the fact that her name was incorrectly entered in her new passport in her home country.
