Asisat Lamina Oshoala (born October 9, 1994 in Ikorodu ) is a Nigerian soccer player.

Life

Oshoala was born in Ikorodu . She attended the Aunty Ayo International School in the Ikoyi district of the metropolis of Lagos , where she graduated from secondary school in 2009.

Career

Oshoala started her career at FC Robo in Mushin in the state of Lagos. In April 2013 she left FC Robo and moved to the Rivers Angels , with whom she celebrated the double from the Nigerian championship and cup win in 2014. For the 2015 season of the FA WSL Oshoala joined the reigning English champions Liverpool LFC , but only appeared in nine season games and moved on to Arsenal LFC after a year . With this she won the FA Women's Cup in 2016 .

At the beginning of 2017, she moved to Dalian Quanjian in China.

National team

In the summer of 2012, she took part for the Nigerian Super Falconets (U-20) in the U-20 Women's World Cup in Japan in 2012 and was used in five games. In the end, after a defeat in the game for third place, she was fourth in the world championship. On July 23, 2014, she was nominated by national coach Peter Dedevbo for the 2014 U-20 Women's World Cup in Canada. In her second participation, she reached the final with the Super Falconets. On August 17, 2014, she scored the second-fastest goal in the history of the U-20 Women's World Cup against New Zealand . Only three days later, Oshoala helped her team against the North Korean U-20s with a flawless hat trick to make it into the final at the tournament in Canada. The final against the team from Germany was lost 0: 1, but she still won the golden shoe with a total of 7 goals in the tournament and was awarded the golden ball as the best player. Also in 2014 she was named Africa's Player of the Year .

Oshoala was appointed to the Nigerian national soccer team for the first time on September 28, 2011 in qualifying for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London . She made her A international debut for Nigeria against Cameroon on October 22, 2011. It would take almost three years until the first international goal, she scored her debut goal for the Super Falcons on April 30, 2014 in a friendly against the Cameroonian national soccer team .

Oshoala took part in the 2015 World Cup in Canada with Nigeria, but retired after the preliminary round after a draw and two defeats.

In 2016 and 2017, Oshoala was again named Africa's Player of the Year .
