Cynthia Uwak (born July 15, 1986 in Akwa Ibom State , Nigeria ) is a Nigerian soccer player . She is 1.60 m tall and holds the position of a striker .

Life

Uwak was born as one of three children (a sister, a brother).

Career

society

Uwak played in Nigeria for the FTC Queens Abuja and for the Inneh Queens in Benin City . There the later Nigerian national coach Ntiero Effiom became aware of them. From January 2006 to June 2007 she played for the Finnish first division club FC United Pietarsaari , with whom she was runner-up. She scored 17 hits. From July 2007 to July 2008 Uwak was under contract with the Swedish first division club Falköpings KIK . From August 2008 to December 2008 she was under contract with the French first division club Olympique Lyon . However, she remained without a point game. From January 2009 to August 2009 Uwak played in Finland for the first division club Pallokissat Kuopio . She scored 19 goals in 16 league games.

From August 2009 to April 2011 Uwak played for 1. FC Saarbrücken . In the 2009/10 season , Uwak finished 9th in the Bundesliga as a newcomer with Saarbrücken . Uwak scored 9 goals in 22 games. In the 2010/11 season Uwak rose with Saarbrücken from the Bundesliga. She scored 3 goals in 20 games this season. Uwak scored a total of 12 goals in 42 Bundesliga games for Saarbrücken , and went goalless in two DFB Cup appearances .

From April 2011 to December 2012 Uwak was under contract with the Finnish first division club PK-35 Vantaa and became national champion with them in 2011 and 2012. She scored 23 goals in 30 league games. With Vantaa, she also won the Finnish Cup in 2012 . In the seasons 2011/12 and 2012/13 the Champions League scoring Uwak in a total of 3 games 2 goals. In both years Vantaa was eliminated from the Champions League in the round of 32.

Uwak has been playing for the Finnish first division team Åland United since January 2013 . In 2013 she became national champion with this as the top scorer in the league. In the 2014/15 season Uwak took part with Åland in qualifying for the Champions League and played all three games, but was eliminated there. In 2014 she was runner-up with Åland. In the four seasons from 2013 to 2016, she scored 59 goals in 84 league games.

National team

When Ntiero Effiom coached the Nigerian U-19 national team in 2000, he took Uwak into their squad. She later played in the U-20 national team and in the senior team .

World championships

In 2002 Uwak took part in the U-19 World Cup at the age of 16 . In the preliminary round game against Canada, she played for 40 minutes. Nigeria were eliminated in the preliminary round. In 2004 Umak took part again in the U-19 World Cup. Nigeria were eliminated in the quarter-finals against Germany . Uwak took part in the 2006 U-20 World Cup. In the quarter-finals against Brazil, they equalized 1: 1, but Nigeria lost 2-1 and was eliminated. Uwak finished third on the list of goalscorers with 4 goals and was elected to the All-Star team . In total, Uwak played 9 games and scored 5 goals at U-19 and U-20 World Cups . Uwak played 5 World Cup qualifiers for Nigeria and scored 6 goals.

Uwak took part in the 2007 World Cup and played all three preliminary round matches . In the preliminary round match against Sweden , she equalized the final score of 1: 1 and thus the only goal for Nigeria at this World Cup. Nigeria were eliminated in the preliminary round.

In the run-up to the 2011 World Cup , Uwak was banned from the Nigerian team by national coach Ngozi Uche along with other lesbian players.

Olympic games

In 2008 Uwak took part in the Olympic Games with Nigeria . Uwak played all three preliminary round games , but remained without a goal. Nigeria were eliminated in the preliminary round.

African Championships

Uwak took part in the 2006 African Cup of Nations with Nigeria in their own country. Nigeria won the African championship 1-0 in the final against Ghana . Uwak scored 6 goals in this tournament, two of them in the games against Equatorial Guinea and South Africa . In 2010 Uwak took part in the African Championship with Nigeria and won the African championship 4-2 in the final against Equatorial Guinea.
