The Africa Women Cup of Nations 2006 ( Engl. : African Women Championship , French. : Championnat d'Afrique de football féminin ) was the fifth official playout of the African continental championship in women's football and was held from 30 October to 12 November for the third time held in Nigeria after 1998 and 2002 . The venues were Oleh , Oghara , Ughelli and Warri in the state of Delta . The tournament was originally supposed to take place in Gabon . For financial reasons, however, the Gabonese association decided not to host the event.

Host Nigeria once again made use of their home advantage and became African champions for the seventh time in a row and qualified together with finalist Ghana for the 2007 Women's World Cup in China.
