The Africa Women Cup of Nations 2010 ( Engl. : African Women Championship , French. : Championnat d'Afrique de football féminin ) was the seventh official playout of the African continental championship in women's football and was held from 31 October to 14 November for the third time after 2000 and 2004 in South Africa . The venues were Benoni and Tembissa .

Record winners Nigeria became African champions for the eighth time and qualified together with finalist Equatorial Guinea for the 2011 Women's World Cup in Germany.

The top scorer for the fourth time after 2002 (4), 2004 (9) and 2006 (7) was the oldest participant of the tournament at 34 , Nigerian Perpetua Nkwocha , who played for the Swedish club Sunnanå SK with 11 goals.

The eight qualified teams were divided into two groups of four teams each. Within the groups, each team plays each other once. The group winners and runners reach the semifinals and play there in the knock-out system "crosswise" to today. The semi-final winners reach the final, the losers play for third place. From the semi-finals onwards, if the score is tied, there is an extra period of fifteen minutes twice and, if there is no winner, a penalty shoot-out .
