Perpetua Ijeoma Nkwocha (born January 3, 1976 in Lagos ) is a Nigerian national soccer player . She is a multiple winner of the African Championship, record scorer of the championship and multiple soccer player of the year in Africa.

Career

Nkwocha played most of her career in Sweden , initially for the north Swedish club Sunnanå SK in Damallsvenskan . In 2010 she was relegated to Division 1 with Sunnanå SK, in 2012 as Division 1 champion again, but immediately back in 2013. Since 2015 she has been playing as a player- coach for Clemensnäs IF in the fourth division (Division 2).

National team

Nkwocha is a national player for Nigeria and with 34 goals she is the record scorer in the women's African championship , which she won in 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2010 and 2014 and was four times top scorer. With victories at the African Championships, Nigeria became the only African country to qualify for all women's world championships . Nkwocha took part in 2003 , 2007 and 2011 . In 2011, she scored the only goal for Nigeria in a 1-0 win against Canada. Although she only plays in the fourth Swedish league, it was also for the 2015 World Championships nominated . On June 12, 2015, she came on as a substitute in the 54th minute of the second group match against Australia. At 39 years and 160 days she was the oldest player ever to play in a World Cup before this record was exceeded a few days later by the American Christie Rampone - in the game against Nigeria, of all places!

She also played at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney , 2004 in Athens and 2008 in China .
