Adjoa Bayor (born May 17, 1979 in Accra , Ghana ) is a former Ghanaian soccer player .

Career

Before she signed in Jena, she had played for Ghatel Ladies in Accra, Ghana and in the 2006/07 season in the USA for FC Indiana and was on the soccer team of Robert Morris College . On January 21, 2009, she signed a half-year contract with FF USV Jena , that is until June 30, 2009. On June 11, 2009, she extended her contract to June 30, 2011. In October 2010 she was suspended and only belonged to the squad of the women's regional all-league team, for which she played two games. After two years in Germany with FF USV Jena, she signed a contract with FC Indiana in February 2011, but only moved to the USA when her contract expired on June 30th. She returned to her former club after three years. In November 2011 she ended her active career and returned to Accra .

International

Bajor was long-time captain of the Ghanaian national soccer team for women and was most recently in the All-Star-Team of the Africa Championship in 2008. She was one of the players from the world selection starting team that played against the Chinese national soccer team for women. In September 2007, she was the team captain of the Black Queens at the World Cup for women in China . Ghana did not get beyond the preliminary round, failed clearly, they scored a free-kick goal against Norway , just before the 16-meter line. In 2010 she was next to the German legionnaire Florence Okoe from Tennis Borussia Berlin in the squad for the African Confederations Cup in South Africa , with which she was eliminated in the preliminary round.

Honors

In April 2007 she was nominated for the game of the "FIFA Women's World Stars" against the Chinese national soccer team for the women on the occasion of the group draw for the 2007 World Cup and used in the first half. One of her greatest successes to date is her nomination for the election of FIFA World Player of the Year 2007. She was elected African Footballer of the Year by the CAF in 2003, and in 2004 and 2006 she was just under second in the poll. Since January 3, 2012, she has been chairwoman of the Organizing Committee of the CAF Association for the U-17 Women's World Cup .
