The Zambian national soccer team of the women is the Women's Football - national team of South African country Zambia .
Zambia first took part in the unofficial women's African Cup in 1995 after the team failed to compete in the 1991 women's African Cup . However, she was eliminated immediately after two defeats against South Africa (3-5 and 2-6). The Zambian selection qualified for a recognized African Championship for the first time in 2014 , but was eliminated from the group bottom in the preliminary round. In 2018, the first game against Equatorial Guinea was won 5-0, but after a 0-4 against record winners Nigeria and a 1-1 against South Africa it was only enough for third place. In March 2020, the team qualified for the Olympic Games in Tokyo . After a 2: 3 away defeat in Cameroon, a 2: 1 home win was enough to get the Olympic ticket due to the away goals rule .
The highest ranking in the FIFA World Ranking was in 2009 and 96th at the end of 2017.
