German-Turkish youth exchange

A cooperation in the German-Turkish youth exchange was first launched in 1994 by the Federal Ministry for Family, Seniors, Women and Youth and the General Directorate for Youth and Sport at the Turkish Prime Minister . Ernst Reuter Initiative

The Ernst Reuter Initiative ( Turkish Ernst Reuter Girişimi , ERI) is a program that has existed since 2006 for German-Turkish “cooperation in art and culture, politics and media, business, education and science”. It was established by the Foreign Office and the Foreign Ministry of Turkey. The initiative is named after the former mayor of the city of Berlin Ernst Reuter (SPD), who found refuge in Turkey during the time of National Socialism.

German-Turkish student exchange

The German-Turkish student exchange ( Turkish: Türk - Alman Öğrenci Değişimi ) has been a funding program of the Robert Bosch Foundation that has existed since June 2009 and is part of the continuing education program of the Goethe Institute Istanbul . It is under the motto “Welcome Turkey! Hoşgeldin Almanya! German-Turkish student exchange projects "are advertised and serve the mutual student exchange .

The Robert Bosch Foundation finances up to 13,000 euros for preparation and follow-up meetings as well as travel , accommodation and project implementation costs. Intercultural skills as well as civil society and democracy are promoted during the exchange . In the long term, this should result in school partnerships . Schools in Germany and Turkey with students aged 12 to 21 and their teachers or supervisors can take part in the program. The group size is 10 to 25 students who stay in the other country for 7 to 10 days.

Previous participants include a. the Goethe-Gymnasium Emmendingen, the UNESCO project school Kamp-Lintfort and the Schrenzerschule Butzbach.

German-Turkish Youth Bridge

The Mercator Foundation has been offering a German-Turkish school and youth exchange program with the German-Turkish Youth Bridge ( Turkish: Gençlik Köprüsü Türkiye-Almanya ) since August 2013 . The program is based in Essen (from 2014 Düsseldorf) and Istanbul. The sponsor in Turkey is the Society's Volunteers Foundation ( Turkish Toplum Gönüllüleri Vakfi , TOG).
