The Zimbabwean women's national football team represents Zimbabwe in international women's football . The national team is subordinate to the Zimbabwean Football Association and is coached by Shadreck Mlauzi.
history
The Zimbabwean selection has never participated in a World Cup. At the African Championships, she finished fourth, but often did not take part in the qualification. The team also took part in the COSAFA Cup twice.
Zimbabwe initially only played against African teams. The biggest win so far - a 15-0 win against Lesotho - is also the biggest win by an African team against another African team. On March 5, 2013, the team played in Uruguay against Uruguay for the first time outside of Africa and was the first African team to win a point against a South American team at 3: 3. Four days later, the first win of an African team against a South American team was 2-1.
In 2015, the team surprisingly qualified for the 2016 Olympic Games . The team benefited from the fact that World Cup participants Ivory Coast did not play for the second leg of the third round and was thus excluded, although Zimbabwe had not started the first leg and this was rated 3-0 for Ivory Coast. In the decisive fourth round, Zimbabwe then prevailed against World Cup participants Cameroon due to the away goals rule , through which the second round against Zambia was already over. At the 2016 Olympics , Zimbabwe played against the German women's national soccer team , the Australian women's national soccer team and the Canadian women's national soccer team , but was the last of their group to drop out in the preliminary round.
