Georg Schwer

Johann Georg Schwer (born March 26, 1827 in Nuremberg , † October 7, 1877 in Düsseldorf ) was a German genre and landscape painter from the Düsseldorf School .

Life

Schwer was born in Nuremberg as the son of Carl Christoph Schwer, a wood turner by trade . There he attended elementary drawing school in the afternoons at the age of 11 (forerunner of today's technical college ) and came to London as a child , where he received his first art lessons at the age of 13. Then he went to Düsseldorf . There were Karl Ferdinand Sohn and Rudolf Jordan his tutor. He stayed in Düsseldorf, where he married Maria Sophia von Eynern (1828–1888) on May 28, 1868 . He made trips to Italy and France as well as Germany, for example to the Willingshausen painters' colony .
