About this picture

Willingshausen is a municipality in the Schwalm-Eder district in northern Hesse . The eponymous place of the municipality, the village Willingshausen , lies between the places Merzhausen and Wasenberg , the administrative seat and largest place of the municipality.

geography

location

The community of Willingshausen is located in the south of the Schwalm on the river of the same name and its right tributaries Antreff and Leimbach . The town hall seat is in Wasenberg, which lies between Willingshausen and Treysa .

Neighboring communities

Willingshausen borders the city of Schwalmstadt to the north, the municipality of Frielendorf to the northeast, the city of Neukirchen and the municipality of Schrecksbach (all in the Schwalm-Eder district) to the east, and the city of Alsfeld and the municipality of Antrifttal (both in the Vogelsberg district) to the south ), and in the west to the city of Neustadt ( Marburg-Biedenkopf district ).

Community structure

It consists of the nine districts of Gungelshausen , Leimbach , Loshausen , Merzhausen , Ransbach , Steina , Wasenberg (seat of the municipal administration), Willingshausen and Zella .

history

As part of the regional reform in Hesse , the original community of Willingshausen formed the new community of Antrefftal on December 31, 1971, together with Gungelshausen, Merzhausen and Zella . This was dissolved on January 1, 1974 and incorporated into a new large municipality by virtue of state law , which also included the places Leimbach, Loshausen, Ransbach, Steina and Wasenberg. This new community was given the name Willingshausen , although the name-giving place was and is not the largest of the new community and is not centrally located.

With the start of renovation work in the entrance area in 2008, extensive renovation of the town hall began. With the creation of a new waiting room - on the ground floor - the waiting times for the resident community members should be made more pleasant in the future.
