Geographical location

Antrifttal is located in the valley of the Antrift river , a tributary of the Schwalm , between Vogelsberg in the south and the Knüllgebirge in the northeast.

54% (14.3 km²) of the municipal area of ​​26.59 km² is used for agriculture.

Antrifttal borders in the north on the municipality of Willingshausen ( Schwalm-Eder district ), in the east and south on the city of Alsfeld , in the west on the city of Kirtorf and in the north-west on the city of Neustadt ( district of Marburg-Biedenkopf ).

As part of the regional reform in Hesse , the five municipalities of Bernsburg, Ohmes, Ruhlkirchen, Seibelsdorf and Vockenrod merged on December 31, 1971 and have since formed the municipality of Antrifttal.

In 2013 a was in the district of the district Ruhlkirchen wind park built, consisting of four wind turbines of the type Nordex N117 / 2400 which have been designed as a weak wind turbines especially for inland locations.
