Ruhlkirchen is the largest part of the municipality of Antrifttal in the Vogelsbergkreis in central Hesse . The place is the seat of the municipal administration.

history

The place belonged to the Katzenberg court from the 12th to the 19th century . The moated castle Ruhlkirchen was built around 1120

Early 19th century the village went with the entire court Katzenberg as a result of Reichsdeputationshauptschluss conclusion of Kurmainzer ownership of Kurhessen over. With the peace treaty between the Kingdom of Prussia and the Grand Duchy of Hesse on September 3, 1866, following the war of 1866 , the villages of the "Katzenberg District" fell to the Grand Duchy. In Ruhlkirchen, Hessian law was valid at that time. This retained its validity even while it belonged to the Grand Duchy of Hesse from 1866. On January 1, 1900, it was replaced by the civil code that was uniformly applicable throughout the German Empire .

Territorial reform

As part of the regional reform in Hesse , the five municipalities of Bernsburg, Ohmes, Ruhlkirchen, Seibelsdorf and Vockenrod merged on December 31, 1971 to form the new large municipality of Antrifttal.
