Gemünden (Felda) is located on the rivers Felda and Ohm , which emanate from the Vogelsberg , in the Upper Hesse region on the Vorderen and Unteren Vogelsberg , northwest of the actual Hohen Vogelsberg .

Gemünden is spaciously located between Gießen and Bad Hersfeld . The A5 leads through the district .

Neighboring communities

Gemünden borders the city of Homberg (Ohm) in the northwest , the city of Kirtorf in the northeast, the city of Romrod in the east, the municipality of Feldatal in the southeast , and the municipality of Mücke in the southwest .

The municipality of Gemünden (Felda) consists of seven localities that were merged into one large municipality as part of the local government reform in 1971.

history

On March 14, 1973, the name of the municipality Gemünden was officially changed to Gemünden (Felda) .

Incorporations

On December 31, 1971, the communities of Burg-Gemünden, Ehringshausen, Elpenrod, Hainbach, Nieder-Gemünden, Otterbach and Rülfenrod were merged to form the new community of Gemünden.
