Otfried Praetorius

Otfried Praetorius (full name: Otto Friedrich Christian Gotthilf Otfried Praetorius ; born February 26, 1878 in Nieder-Gemünden , † November 18, 1964 ) was a German high school professor and genealogist .

Praetorius was a mathematics teacher, in 1903 a senior teacher at the Augustinian School in Friedberg (Hesse) , later at the Viktoriaschule in Darmstadt and there since 1911 titular professor. In 1944 he moved to Nieder-Ramstadt , and in 1947 he retired.

As a genealogist he had on the region Hessen specialized and published numerous master and ancestor lists and prosopographic and research. a. on the history of the universities of Gießen and Mainz and the Reich Chamber of Commerce .

He was married to Dora Nodnagel (1881–1972) since 1907, the marriage had four children. The couple were on friendly terms with the reform pedagogue Paul Geheeb (1870–1961), who was a close friend of a brother Doras, the composer and writer Ernst Otto Nodnagel, and his daughter Atha Nodnagel, who later married Gruhle, at the Odenwaldschule Oberhambach had taught and regarded her with his wife as a kind of adopted child.
