Marktrodach is a market without an eponymous capital in the Upper Franconian district of Kronach in Bavaria . It is located about six kilometers east of the district town of Kronach in two sections of the Rodach valley and the Radspitz / Losnitz valley , an extension of the Steinach valley . The community is on the federal highway 173 (Kronach – Hof) and the federal highway 303 (Kronach – Kulmbach).

Marktrodach is located in the Franconian Forest Nature Park on the Rodach . In the district Seibel village is located Radspitze ( 678 NN m above sea level. ) With the largest valley-mountain difference in the Franconian Forest . It is also the highest point in the Franconian line .

Community merger

May 1, 1978, due to the municipal reform, the formerly independent municipalities Großvichtach (until 1875 Vichtach ), Upper Rodach, Unterrodach, Zeyern (see also Zeyern (noble family) ) and the market Seibel Village (to 1972 County Stadtsteinach ) under the name Marktrodach to Congregation united. The right to the designation market was brought in by the former municipality of Seibelsdorf. The seat of the municipal administration was established in Unterrodach.

Population development

In the period from 1988 to 2018, the market grew from 3,706 to 3,746 by 40 inhabitants or 1.1%. On December 31, 2000, Marktrodach had 4,171 inhabitants.
