location

The place is located on the B 173 , 1.5 km northeast of Oberrodach. In Zeyern, the 6.8 km long Zeyern flows into the Rodach on the left (see list of rivers in the Rodach river system ). The place is on the Frankenweg , an approximately 520 kilometers long long- distance hiking trail in Bavaria , which was opened in 2004.

history

Zeyern was first mentioned indirectly in a document in 1260 with Friedrich von Zeyern. This was probably a servant of the Counts of Andechs and a witness in the peace treaty after a twelve-year war between the Bishop of Bamberg and the Counts of Orlamünde .

A seat of the Lords of Zeyern in the place was mentioned in 1513. The family died out in 1610 with Christoph von Zeyern zu Friesen.

On May 1, 1978, Zeyern merged with the Seibelsdorf market and the communities of Unterrodach, Oberrodach and Großvichtach to form the Marktrodach market.
