Großvichtach (until 1875 Vichtach ) is a district of the Marktrodach market in the Upper Franconian district of Kronach in Bavaria . The village of Kleinvichtach belongs to the Großvichtach district.

geography

Großvichtach is located about seven kilometers east of the district town of Kronach in the Losnitz valley , a left tributary of the Rodach , between Unterrodach and Seibelsdorf . The federal road 303 , which connects Kronach with Kulmbach , runs through the village .

history

Großvichtach is first mentioned as Vichtach in 1260 .

In 1875 Großvichtach had 159 inhabitants and 78 buildings and was assigned to the Protestant parish in Seibelsdorf and the school in Oberrodach . In 1900 the rural community Großvichtach with Kleinvichtach covered an area of 340.66 hectares, had 247 inhabitants, of whom 244 were Protestant, and 44 residential buildings.

On May 1, 1978, the formerly independent communities Großvichtach, Oberrodach, Unterrodach, Zeyern and the market Seibelsdorf merged to form Marktrodach as part of the regional reform in Bavaria .

In 1987 the place had 175 residents and 47 residential buildings.
