The Margrave Church (also Andreaskirche or St. Andreas ) in Seibelsdorf , a municipality part of Marktrodach in the Upper Franconian district of Kronach , is an Evangelical Lutheran church building.

history

The Margrave Church was built between 1735 and 1760 by the councilor and palace builder Johann Georg Hoffmann as a sandstone block in the margrave style and is considered to be one of the best late baroque examples of this architectural style. The nave was first built between 1735 and 1738 . The 50 m high tower was built between 1751 and 1755; In 1760 the construction with the sacristy was completed.

A cemetery with a defensive wall is attached to the church, the core of which is believed to date from the 15th century.

From 1809 to 1924 the Margrave Church was the deanery church .

In 1963 the Margrave Church was extensively renovated. A complex interior renovation took place between 2008 and 2010.

In 2013, the 250th anniversary of the church was celebrated together with regional bishop Heinrich Bedford-Strohm .

Furnishing

The pulpit altar is characterized by extensive decorations and golden ornaments .

The nave is equipped on three sides with two galleries on two levels each. The church building offers a total of 550 seats. The nave ceiling is designed in the Rococo style by Josefi de Buzzi and decorated with stucco and ceiling paintings . Among other things, the margravial coat of arms and the initial "F" of Margrave Friedrich von Kulmbach-Brandenburg-Bayreuth are shown . In the course of the renovation from 2008 to 2010, the previously empty areas of the ceiling mirror were designed by Gerhard Mayer as an ink drawing with the title God Particle .

The Hoffmann organ, which has been in use since 1984, has three manuals and 20 stops .
