Christa Steiger (born December 8, 1951 in Unterrodach ) is a German politician ( SPD ). From 1992 to 2013 she was a member of the Bavarian State Parliament .

Life

After completing secondary school, Christa Steiger trained as a commercial and practical doctor's assistant from 1968 to 1970. She worked in this profession until a family break in 1976. From 1985 to 1992 she worked as a teacher for sports at the Kronach vocational school . In addition to her professional and political work, she is socially committed as the chairwoman of the Paritätischer Wohlfahrtsverband in Upper Franconia and as the chairwoman of the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund in the Kronach district . She is evangelical, is widowed and has two children.

Christa Steiger resigned in 1972 in the SPD and sat from 1990 in the City Council Marktrodach and the council of Kronach . She is a member of the sub-district and district executive of the SPD. She took over the office of chairwoman of the Coburg / Kronach sub-district of the Working Group of Social Democratic Women (ASF) . In 1992 she moved to the Bavarian State Parliament. She initially worked on the environmental committee and is now deputy chair of the social, family and work working group. Spokeswoman for politics for people with disabilities and member of the state parliament presidium. She also worked on the Petitions Committee for six years . She did not run for the state elections in Bavaria in 2013 .
