history
Until the church is planted
The Schlopp district of Presseck was first mentioned in a document in 1024. The first mention of Presseck was in 1362 in a right-of-way agreement between Prince-Bishop Lupold of Bamberg and the knight Hans von Waldenfels . From 1697 to 1823 the Presseck market belonged to the Voit von Rieneck and was the seat of the Wildenstein rule . With the Rheinbund act 1806 the place came to Bavaria . In the course of the administrative reforms in Bavaria, the municipality was created with the municipal edict of 1818 .
The place belonged to the district Stadtsteinach until June 30, 1972 , which was dissolved on the occasion of the district reform and added to the district of Kulmbach.
Incorporations
On January 1, 1972, the previously independent communities of Köstenberg and Schlackenreuth were incorporated. On January 1, 1974, Wildenstein and a smaller part of the dissolved community of Schwand were added. Heinersreuth followed on January 1, 1978. The Wartenfels market ended on May 1, 1978 with the municipality of Reichenbach, which was incorporated on January 1, 1976.
Population development
In the period from 1988 to 2018, the number of inhabitants fell from 2,313 to 1,783 by 530 or 22.1%, which is the clearest percentage decrease in the number of inhabitants in the district in the period mentioned. On December 31, 1992 Presseck had 2530 inhabitants.
