history

Until the church is planted

The oldest part of the municipality is the district of Kauerndorf, which was first mentioned in a document shortly after the Staufer period in the so-called Interregnum in 1256. The district of Ködnitz was last mentioned in a non-printed document in 1398 in the late Luxembourg period . Ködnitz, a former office of the Prussian principality of Bayreuth since 1792 , fell to France in the Peace of Tilsit in 1807 and became part of Bavaria in 1810. In the course of the administrative reforms in Bavaria , the municipality of Ködnitz was created with the municipal edict of 1818 .

Incorporations

Ködnitz was enlarged on April 1, 1971 through the regional reform to include the previously independent municipality of Kauerndorf.

Population development

In the period from 1988 to 2018, the population fell from 1677 to 1562 by 115 or 6.9%. On December 31, 1997 Ködnitz had 1793 inhabitants.
