history

Until the church is planted

Archaeological finds indicate that the area was first settled in the Bronze Age (find of a rag ax in the Edelmannshof). A row of graves from the Carolingian-Ottonian period was also found. Presumably Franconian settlers buried their dead on the hill above the marshy Trebgasttal. The remains of a defensive tower were found inside the church during a renovation under the screed of the sacristy .

In 1322 a church was first mentioned in the records. In 1398 the lords of Künsberg were enfeoffed with the parish from Wernstein Castle . The place consisted of about 20 buildings at that time.

As part of the Prussian principality of Bayreuth , Harsdorf fell to France in the Peace of Tilsit in 1807 and became part of Bavaria in 1810 . In the course of the administrative reforms in Bavaria, today's municipality was created with the municipal edict of 1818 .

Population development

In the period from 1988 to 2018, the community grew from 748 to 983 by 235 inhabitants or 31.4%, which is the strongest percentage increase in population in the district in the period mentioned.
