Körle is a municipality in the Schwalm-Eder district in northern Hesse .

geography

location

The municipality of Körle is located around 16 km (as the crow flies ) south of downtown Kassel on the south-western edge of the Söhre . Her eponymous nucleus is located at the mouth of the dry Mülmisch in the Weser -Quellfluss Fulda , in which at Körle also the little Haingraben and slightly above and to the southeast of the Körle Mülmisch flows.

Neighboring communities

Körle borders in the west and north on the municipality of Guxhagen (Schwalm-Eder district), in the east on the municipality Söhrewald ( district of Kassel ) and in the south on the cities of Melsungen and Felsberg (both in the Schwalm-Eder district).

structure

Körle consists of the four districts of Empfershausen , Körle, Lobenhausen and Wagenfurth .

history

Körle was first mentioned in a document in 1074 in a deed of donation from the Fulda monastery . The following names have been handed down from the following centuries: 1074 Chrulle, 1172 Kurle, 1299 Corle, 1391 Kirle; also 1787 Cörla, 1830 Koerle.

Körle had its own judicial district until around 1620. This did not cease until the Melsung judicial district was expanded.

Today's main street, Nürnberger Straße, served as a postal connection between Kassel and Regensburg in the 15th / 16th centuries , which is why it was sometimes also called Poststraße.

On July 15, 1892, Körle was connected to the railroad by setting up a stop on the line in the Fulda valley Kassel - Bebra .

In 1906, Körle received a water pipe, and in 1920 it was electrified by connecting it to the “Overland Central Edertalsperre”.

On the initiative of the mayor at the time, in 1912 - after lengthy negotiations - the Reichsbahn built a large freight station in Körle. As a result, a basalt factory settled and developed into an important employer for the region. Around 250 workers were employed in the Ölberg quarry in 1933/34. For decades, the freight yard was also a transshipment point for wood from the Söhrewald and Riedforst. A large timber plant was established at the freight yard, but it was closed again soon after the Second World War.

The community was created in its current form on February 1, 1971 as part of the regional reform in Hesse through the incorporation of the previously independent communities Empfershausen, Lobenhausen and Wagenfurth. according to Körle.

In 2003 the Körler Edelapfel was named " Hessian Local Variety of the Year " by the Landesgruppe Hessen des Pomologen-Verein e. V. named. The aim is to draw attention to old fruit varieties that are worth preserving in Hessen. Corresponding campaigns and public relations work are carried out every year, such as maintenance measures on old trees, rice extraction and delivery to tree nurseries, planting campaigns as well as lectures and exhibitions.

Körle and the districts were developed with VDSL from 2011.
