Empfershausen was first mentioned in 1303 as "Engelbrechteshusen". From 1484 the place is led under "Einffershausen". In 1575 there are 9 houses in the village. The village belongs to the Unteramt Körle, which in turn belongs to the Amt Melsungen . The Thirty Years' War left its mark on the village, so that in 1639 hardly any fields were cultivated and only 8 houses were inhabited. In 1743 there were 10 farms and 7 houses in the village. 91 inhabitants are counted. Three years later a cemetery is laid out in the lower village. The current church was built in 1772.

In 1874, Empfershausen was assigned to the newly established registry office district of Körle. In 1887 stone bridges were built over the Mülmisch flowing through both parts of the village for the first time. The new schoolhouse is built in 1899.

In 1921, Empfershausen is connected to the power grid. It remains the property of the municipality until 1926; then it is transferred to the regional electricity supplier. In 1924 a cable car was built to transport material from the quarry to the Körle plant. In 1926, Empfershausen was connected to public transport by the Kassel - Dörnhagen –Körle – Eiterhagen bus line; the bus line is discontinued in 1964. In 1929 it was connected to the water supply .

The village community center was inaugurated in 1966 and the school in Empfershausen closed in 1967 .

The previously independent community of Empfershausen was incorporated into the municipality of Körle on February 1, 1971 as part of the regional reform in Hesse .

In 2000 the village community center was reopened after extensive renovation. In the same year, after several years of construction, the entire district of Empfershausen is connected to the Körler sewage treatment plant , which means that the time of property septic tanks is over.

In 2003 an extension of the fire station is completed.
