Eiterhagen is a district of the municipality of Söhrewald in the northern Hessian district of Kassel .

Geographical location

The village of Eiterhagen is the southernmost part of Söhrewald. It is located between the wooded low mountain range Söhre (max.  643.4  m above sea  level ) in the north and Melsunger Bergland (max.  563.7  m above sea level ) in the south at the confluence of the Wattenbach in the Mülmisch . By Eiterhagen, which is at about 260 to 310  m above sea level. NN , the state road  3228 ( Empfershausen - Quentel ) runs roughly in a south-west-north-east direction , from which the L 3236 branches off in the village, leading northwards to Wattenbach . The Green Lake is located about 1.3 km southwest of Eiterhagen .

history

The place was first mentioned in 1189 as Eyterhayn. At the time of the Napoleonic Kingdom of Westphalia , Eiterhagen belonged to the canton of Körle .

On December 1, 1970 , the formerly independent communities of Eiterhagen, Wattenbach and Wellerode merged voluntarily to form the new community of Söhrewald as part of the regional reform in Hesse .
