history

The Hessian Count Werner III is considered the founder of the place . The place name is derived from either deru (oak) or duri (dry). Another interpretation is the derivation of Ödhagen . The place was first mentioned in 1253. The listed Evangelical Church Dörnhagen dates from the Middle Ages . During the time of the Kingdom of Westphalia (1807-1813) Dörnhagen belonged to the canton of Waldau .

On August 1, 1972, as part of the regional reform in Hesse, the municipalities of Bergshausen and Dörnhagen were incorporated into the municipality of Fuldabrück by means of state law, thereby forming the new large municipality of “Fuldabrück”.
