The Dörnhage tunnel is a 739 m long railway tunnel on the high-speed line from Hanover to Würzburg . It is located near the Dörnhagen district of the north Hessian community of Fuldabrück and therefore bears his name.
Location and course
The tunnel is located 8 km south of Kassel and in its southern area passes under the federal motorway 7 with an overburden of 6 m. In the northern part, agriculturally used areas are driven under. The covering of the structure is between 4 and 13 m.
The structure crosses sandstone - claystone layers of the Hardegsen alternation, some of which are weathered to the bottom of the tunnel .
The gradient rises continuously in a southerly direction.
The tunnel was created with a vault profile with a base vault.
history
In the area of today's tunnel, the preliminary design plan initially included an incision with bridges for crossing paths, roads and motorways. In the planning approval procedure , for agricultural and forestry reasons, preference was given to a tunnel solution in order to avoid the space required for an incision about 150 m wide due to a necessary slope of 2: 1.
In 1984 the tunnel was planned with a length of 704 m and calculated costs of 20.6 million DM.
Due to the low overburden, mining construction was ruled out for economic reasons. The structure was therefore constructed using the open construction method with flat excavation slopes (1: 1.5 / 1: 2). During the construction phase, the A 7 was temporarily narrowed to five lanes and moved up to 30 m from its original location.
In the planning and construction phase, the structure was part of planning section 13 in the middle section of the new line. To the north of the tunnel was a mile jump . The construction kilometer 157,000 merged into kilometer 135.
