history

Bergshausen was first mentioned in 1231 as Berchodeshusen in a document from the Breitenau monastery . The place name is traced back to the founder's name "Bergoz", who built his first house here. Around 1346 Bergshausen was one of the possessions of the Kaufungen Abbey . A "Ober-Berkhusen" is mentioned. During the time of the Kingdom of Westphalia , Bergshausen belonged to the canton of Waldau .
