The D-routes are a system of twelve long-distance cycle paths that are being developed across Germany as part of the national cycle traffic plan . The project ran for ten years from 2002 to 2012. The 2020 NRVP decided to continue the project. In North Rhine-Westphalia, routes 3, 4, 7, 8 and 9 are already signposted in connection with the NRW cycle network .

The route logo shows a wheel with spokes on the left. On the right-hand side, the number of the path in question is indicated on a red background.
