The D-Route 4 (Mittelland-Route) is a 1,026-kilometer long-distance cycle route in Germany and connects Aachen with Zittau . In southern North Rhine-Westphalia it is partly identical to the EuroVelo routes EV3 and EV4 as well as the moated castle route .

Routing

The German Tourism Association describes the course as follows: “The Mittelland route follows the belt of densely forested low mountain ranges that crosses Germany from west to east. Because of this topography, it also has some sporting requirements. The urban highlights are Bonn , the Thuringian classic cities and Dresden . "
