The D-Route D2 (Baltic Sea Coast Route ) , also known as the Baltic Sea Cycle Route , is a long-distance cycle route on the Baltic Sea coast in Germany . It is also the German section of the EuroVelo route EV10 , which leads around the Baltic Sea.

Routing

The D2 cycle path runs from Flensburg near the Danish border via Glücksburg , Eckernförde , Kiel , Schönberger Strand, Hohwachter Bay , Heiligenhafen , Fehmarn , Grömitz , Scharbeutz , Timmendorfer Strand , Travemünde , Wismar , Warnemünde , Fischland-Darß-Zingst , Barth , Stralsund , Rügen , Greifswald and Wolgast to Ahlbeck on the Polish border.

expansion

The route leads partly along beaches and cliffs, partly it deviates several kilometers from the coast and follows cycle paths on country roads. When driving through town, the route runs partly on the roadway. In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in particular, both the signage and the actual Baltic Sea Cycle Route are comparatively patchy. In the vicinity of larger cities, the quality of the cycle path is relatively good. In rural areas, on the other hand, you have to face obstacles (such as trees, ditches, ramps with more than 40% incline and oncoming cars with a path width of just over two meters), poor ground (coarse gravel, tree roots, sand, mud when it rains) and the sudden Expect the end of the path without corresponding signs.
