Wiesenthal was first mentioned in 1634. The largest employer in town was the glassworks, and there were also several companies that produced glass jewelry, glass beads and glass buttons.

Wiesenthal formed a community in the judicial district of Gablonz an der Neisse from the middle of the 19th century . On July 12, 1894, the first train ran through the Neißetal from Gablonz to Wiesenthal, and by October 10 of the same year the section from Wiesenthal over the pass to Tannwald-Schumburg was completed, so that rail traffic could be operated continuously.

After the First World War , Wiesenthal was added to the newly created Czechoslovakia . In 1930, 3744 people lived in the city, the vast majority of whom were Germans. Due to the Munich Agreement , Wiesenthal belonged from 1938 to 1945 to the district of Gablonz an der Neisse , district of Aussig , in the Reichsgau Sudetenland of the German Empire . After the end of World War II , the German-speaking population was largely expropriated and expelled , and the place lost its city rights. Since October 10, 2006 Lučany has been a town again.

Demographics

Until 1945 Wiesenthal was predominantly populated by German Bohemia , which were expelled.
