Pěnčín (German Pintschei ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic and part of the Železnobrodsko microregion . It is located six kilometers southeast of Jablonec nad Nisou in the Jizera Mountains and belongs to the Okres Jablonec nad Nisou .
geography
Pěnčín is located at the southern foot of the 869 m high Černá studnice (Schwarzbrunnberg) . State road 287 from Jablonec nad Nisou to European route 65 near Bratříkov runs through the village . The six districts located on a densely populated plateau below the Schwarzbrunnkamm have grown together closely in terms of their development. An exception is Dolní Černá Studnice, which is located on the southwest slope of the mountain of the same name.
Neighboring towns are Horní Černá Studnice and Huť in the north, Zbytky and Zásada in the northeast, Loužnice in the east, Bratříkov in the southeast, Alšovice in the south, Skuhrov in the southwest, Čížkovice, Jistebsko and Maršovice in the west and Krásná and Dolní Černá Studnice in the northwest.
history
Pěnčín was first mentioned in 1592 in a document from Jaroslav von Wartenberg as a village belonging to the Svijany rule ; the districts of Alšovice and Jistebsko can be traced back to 1543. In 1614 Joachim Andreas von Schlick acquired the rule. After his execution in 1621, Albrecht von Waldstein became the new owner. Wallenstein left the Svijany estate to his cousin Maximilian von Waldstein on Münchengrätz . In 1814 the princes Rohan acquired Svijany including Pěnčín on Sychrov . After the abolition of patrimonial Pintschey became an independent municipality in 1850.
The language border ran in the area of the municipality. Alšovice and Bratříkov were Czech-speaking, the villages of Schwarzbrunn, Schumburg, Gistej, Labau, and Pintschei were German-speaking. The municipality is a center of the Bohemian glass printing industry. There was a glassworks in Labau, which was owned by the Preussler family of glassmakers at the beginning of the 17th century .
Community structure
The municipality of Pěnčín consists of the districts Alšovice (Alschowitz) , Bratříkov (Bratschikow) , Dolní Černá Studnice (Unterschwarzbrunn) , Huť (Labau) , Jistebsko (Gistej) , Krásná (Schumburg) and Pěnčín (Pintschei) . Basic settlement units are Alšovice, Bratříkov, Dolní Černá Studnice, Dupanda, Huť, Jistebsko and Pěnčín. Pěnčín also includes the location Čížkovice 2. díl (Tschischkowitz 2nd share).
The municipality is divided into the cadastral districts of Alšovice, Bratříkov, Huť and Jistebsko.

Personalities
- Johann Josef Kittel (1704–1783), doctor, natural healer and builder of the Josefskirche, known as Dr. Faust of the Jizera Mountains , lived and worked in Schumburg.
