Kořenov (German Bad Wurzelsdorf ) is a municipality in the Jizera Mountains in Liberecký kraj in the Czech Republic . It was created in 1960 through the merger of the municipalities of Polubný, Příchovice , Rejdice and Jizerka .
history
The first settlers lived here at the beginning of the 16th century from hunting and fishing, later they took on the trades of lumberjacks or charcoal burners. In 1577 Paul Schierer founded a glassworks in the Reiditz district. After the battle of the White Mountain , the area came to Albrecht von Waldstein , who sold it to the Desfours family . In 1824 Prince Rohan purchased the property.
Hope Valley / Destinationsiec
In 1958, in the course of an exchange of territory with Poland in the area where the Mummel confluence with the Jizera, the Polish village of Zieliec joined Kořenov since 1945 . Up to 1945 he was in the Silesian part of the Giant Mountains and belonged to the Prussian province of Silesia under the place name Hope Valley . It was built around a glassworks that Karl Christian Preußler built together with the Schreiberhauer glass dealer Mattern and another shareholder. The hut began operations on January 5, 1796 under the name "Hope Valley" and was expanded in 1799 to include a grinding mill. Because of the increasing surreptitious trade in Bohemian glass, which was brought illegally and duty-unpaid across the nearby border, there were sales difficulties, but also disputes among the shareholders, which should have affected the quality of the glassware. After the death of Karl Christian Preußler, his son Christian Benjamin Preußler took over his share in 1805. After a fire in 1821, the Hope Valley Hut was rebuilt, but without the participation of the Preusslers. In the middle of the 19th century the hut belonged to the Matterne brothers. At that time, the Magdeburg chemist Dr. Fuß develops and produces an excellent millefiori glass. Fuß also improved the process of making gold ruby glass . In 1863 the hut, which could no longer be produced, was acquired and renovated by the landlord Schaffgotsch . Due to the unfavorable location, which led to increased transport costs, the hut was abandoned in 1868.
