Železnobrodsko microregion

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Železnobrodsko microregion was created in 1999 by the union of the Czech communities Držkov , Maršovice , Pěnčín , Skuhrov and Zásada , which are located in Okres Jablonec nad Nisou .

In addition to an interesting historical development, the region also offers geographical attractions. Located at the foot of the Jizera Mountains (Jizerské Hory) under the Black Fountain Ridge, there is a good view of the surrounding landscapes such as the Giant Mountains (Krkonoše), Český ráj (Bohemian Paradise), Jizera Mountains and the ridges of Ještěd (Jeschken). Tourist attractions such as historical sights can be visited all year round. In summer there are hiking and cycling trails as well as a wide range of swimming opportunities available; in winter you can go on extensive cross-country skiing tours.

The region has been settled since the Neolithic Age. The region did not experience the first onslaught of settlers until the 14th century . Above all, Germans brought with them knowledge of the glazier trade and soon certain glass factories, glassblowing and grinding shops determined the economy of the region. In the second half of the 18th century, jewelry was added.

The most important personalities in the region include:

  • Johann Joseph Antonius Eleazar Kittel († 1783), doctor and from Schumburg ( Krásná ), who was also called "Faust of the Jizera Mountains"
  • Chief Justice H. Fiedler († 1590), who in the oldest settlement Maršovice lived
  • Vogt, businessman and passion actresses January Šourek from Zásada coming
  • C. Daníček, the mayor of Skuhrová, was one of the pioneers of glass production after 1860.

Držkov was the city of music, from here comes the Bohemci chapel.
