Sychrov (German Sichrow ) is a municipality on the Mohelka with 184 inhabitants (January 1, 2004) in Okres Liberec , Czech Republic . It is 384 m above sea level. M. as the crow flies about 20 kilometers south of Liberec . The inhabitants mostly live from agriculture.
history
The village was first mentioned in documents in 1367, at that time still under the name Svojkov. However, this village perished in the 17th century; Sychrov Castle was built in its place, the name of which was later also given to the newly created village.
The owners of the community included the von Wartenberg family, the Waldstein family, including Albrecht von Waldstein and the lords of Smiřic . In 1820 the estate belonged to the French Rohan family , whose relatives lived in the castle until 1945.

The municipality Sychrov consists of the districts Radostín ( Radostin ), Sedlejovice ( Sedlowitz ), Sychrov ( Sichrow ), Třtí ( Wetterstein ) and Vrchovina ( Werhowina ).
The municipality forms the Radostín u Sychrova cadastral district .
Attractions
The Sychrov Castle is historically interesting and offers tours as well as cultural events.
The village and its surroundings were popular with Antonín Dvořák , who often visited Sychrov and composed part of his opera Dimitrij here .
