Bílá (German Bilai ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located three kilometers east of Český Dub and belongs to the Okres Liberec .

geography

Bílá is located south of the Jeschkengebirge in the Ralská pahorkatina hills, in the basin of a tributary to the Oharka. The Chlum ridge (400 m) rises to the east.

Neighboring towns are písky, Pokličko and Luhov in the north, Bystrá and Bohdánkov in the Northeast, Petrašovice, Hodkovice nad Mohelkou and Citer in the east, Kohoutovice and Vesec in the southeast, Dehtáry and Chvalčovice in the south, Hradčany and Brousky in the southwest, Sobotice, Český Dub and Malý Dub in the west and Klebrda, Starý Dub, Hoření Starý Dub, Polsko and Domaslavice in the northwest.

history

Archaeological finds show an early settlement of the area. Stone tools from the 3rd millennium BC were found in Petrašov. Found in BC and ceramic finds in Klamorna, Chvalčovice and Letařovice can be traced back to the 2nd and 1st millennium BC. To date. On the Slavíkov hill (380 m) near Klamorna there was a Slavic castle.

The first written mention of the church in Letařovice was in 1363. In 1537, Bílá was mentioned as a small agricultural settlement and Petrašovice has been documented since 1538. The first mentions of Luhov and Domaslavice date from 1540. In the land register of the Český Dub manor from 1590 the villages Vlčetín, Luhov, Bohdánkov, Petrašovice, Kohoutovice, Vesec, Kocourov, Bílá, Dehtáry, Chvalčovice, Hradetačanyice, Trvalívice are listed.

After the abolition of patrimonial formed Běla / Billai with the district piska 1850 a municipality in the district of Trutnov . Since 1920 the Czech community name has been Bílá . In 1930 the Czech settled community had 300 inhabitants.

After the Munich Agreement , Bilai was added to the German Reich in 1938 and belonged to the Reichenberg district until 1945 . In 1939 there were 264 people in Bilai. After the end of the Second World War the village came back to Czechoslovakia and was again assigned to the Okres Turnov.

1961 Vlčetín (with Domaslavice and Luhov) was incorporated, at the same time the municipality Bílá was assigned to the Okres Liberec . 1980 the incorporation of Hradčany (with Chvalčovice, Dehtáry, Letařovice, Trávníček and Klamorna) and Petrašovice (with Bohdánkov, Vesec and Kocourov). Bílá has retained its agricultural character to this day.

Community structure

Bílá consists of the districts Bílá ( Bilai ) Bohdánkov ( Bohdanken even Bohdankow ) Chvalčovice ( Chwaltschowitz ) Dehtáry ( Dechtar ) Domaslavice ( Niederdomaslowitz ), Hradčany ( ratchets ) Klamorna, Kocourov ( Kozaurow ) Kohoutovice ( Kohoutowitz ), Letařovice ( Letarschowitz ), Petrašovice ( Potrosowitz ), Trávníček ( Trawnitschek ), Vesec ( Wesetz ) and Vlčetín ( Wlcetin ). Basic settlement units are Bílá, Bohdánkov, Chvalčovice, Dehtáry, Domaslavice, Hradčany Kohoutovice, Letařovice, Petrašovice, Trávníček, Vesec and Vlčetín. Bílá also includes the monolayer Horní Vlčetín ( Upper Wlcetin ) Luhov ( Luhow ) písky ( Am Sand ), and Poklička Polsko.

The municipality is divided into the cadastral districts of Bílá u Českého Dubu, Hradčany u Českého Dubu, Chvalčovice, Petrašovice and Vlčetín u Bílé.

Attractions

  • Branch church of St. James the Elder in Letařovice; the Gothic building, which has been documented since 1363 , was redesigned in 1695 in baroque style. In 1722, the wooden ceiling was decorated with 60 panels depicting the life of the apostle. The bell tower was added in 1733–1734 . In March 2007 the church was robbed and the gilded altar decorations and part of the pulpit were stolen. The church has an ossuary with an altar made of human bones.

  • The poet Fráňa Šrámek often visited Petrašovice, where he successfully competed for the teacher's daughter.
