history

Einsiedel was probably created in the 13th century during the German colonization in the course of the construction of a path through the Jizera Mountains forests. The settlement of Einsiedl was first mentioned in a document in 1381 in the land register of the Friedland lordship . At that time the village consisted of 18 farms, two sawmills, a grain mill and a wage mill. Under the Biebersteiners, Einsiedel was under the administration of Hammerstein Castle , which was later added to the Reichenberger Sprengel of the Friedland rule with its villages . The village developed through the expansion of the old path to the Reichsstraße. In 1551, Christoph von Bieberstein, the Friedland branch of the family, died out and the rule returned to the Bohemian crown by reversion . From this in 1558 the imperial council Friedrich von Redern acquired the rule. In 1570 Salomena von Redern had a small stone church built instead of the wooden prayer hall, which was built on stilts and has been verifiable since 1521.

After the Battle of the White Mountain , Christoph von Redern's goods were confiscated and handed over to Albrecht von Waldstein . After his murder, Matthias von Gallas received the rule. His descendants and, from 1757 onwards, the Clam-Gallas line of counts owned the lands until they were expropriated in 1945. From 1700 onwards, school lessons took place in a private house. In 1820 the school got its own stone building; The villages Voigtsbach, Buschullersdorf and Philippsberg were also enrolled .

After the abolition of patrimonial Einsiedl formed from 1850 a political municipality in the judicial district of Friedland or Friedland district . In 1875 the construction of the railway from Reichenberg to Seidenberg was completed, but the trains passed through Einsiedl without stopping. In 1878 a new school building was built. At the end of the 19th century the community changed its name to Einsiedel . After a series of devastating floods at Görsbach between 1846 and 1888, the two small dams in Mühlscheibe and Voigtsbach were built between 1904 and 1906. The train station in Einsiedel was inaugurated on July 31, 1906. In 1920 the community was reclassified to the Reichenberg district . In 1924 the station was named Mníšek u Liberce . In 1930 Einsiedel had 1,336 inhabitants.

After the Munich Agreement , the community was added to the German Reich in 1938 and belonged to the Reichenberg district until 1945 . In 1939 there were 1221 people in Einsiedel. After the Second World War, the expulsion of the German population began.

After the dissolution of the Okres Liberec-okolí, the municipality was assigned to the Okres Liberec in 1961 and at the same time Fojtka was incorporated. In 1980, Oldřichov v Hájích was incorporated , which lasted until 1990.

In 2005 the Ypsilon Golf Resort Liberec opened south of the Fojtka dam . The 102 hectare golf course is an 18-hole course, designed by the English landscaper Keith Preston.
