The Hamrštejn (German Hammerstein ) located at Machnín (Machendorf) in the valley of the Neisse in the region of Liberec ( Czech Republic ).
history
The castle was probably built around 1350 by the Lords of Bieberstein . In 1433 it was captured by the Hussites under Jan Čapek ze Sán . At the beginning of the 16th century the castle was abandoned.
From the medieval castle, the two towers - at least one of which was used for residential purposes - and parts of the outer wall have been preserved.
Special
One of eight suspension ferries still in operation is located near the Hamrštejn Castle . It is operated manually.
