Jestřebí , also Habštejn, Krušina (German Habstein, Habichtstein ) is the name of the ruin of a rock castle near Jestřebí ( Habstein ) in northern Bohemia ( Czech Republic ). The location on a sandstone rock overhanging on all sides in the valley of the Robečský potok is almost unique for the castles in Bohemia .
history
The castle complex was founded in 1292 by Heinrich Berka von Dubá . Some members of this sex also bore the name of Habichtstein . In 1407 Heinrich Hlawatsch von Dubá became the owner of the castle and kept it until 1427.
In 1426 the castle was conquered by the Hussites . In the period that followed, it developed into a robbery nest, which was besieged in 1445 by the Upper Lusatian Association of Six Cities. The owner Czernik Berka von Dubá, whose castle crew was responsible for the raids, released the castle from the siege against payment and thus prevented it from being razed. On March 28, 1446, Czernik sold the castle to Johann Smiřický von Smiřice . After his execution his son Albrecht received the property in 1460. In 1478 he sold the castle and rule to Christoph von Wartenberg auf Roll . The last time Wenzel von Wartenberg was resident in 1530 was the castle, which was mentioned as desolate in 1550.
Originally the overhanging rock had the shape of a ship's hull stranded on a hill. Sandstone mining by the local residents led to rock falls in 1813, 1825, 1852, 1868, 1922 and 1936, which greatly changed the appearance of the castle rock. In the great break in 1852 the rock broke apart and large parts of the castle ruins were destroyed. In the 1980s, larger masses of rock broke off on the north side. On October 1st, 2009, a rock was broken off on the west side, after which the rock was closed for six months.
particularities
The most peculiar structural element of the castle is the castle fountain that is now exposed on the outside. Above the round shaft there is the carved wheel chamber of a treadle . With the slow onset of tourism in the 19th century, a spiral staircase was built into the castle fountain .
view
From the castle rock there is a view of Jestřebí, the Bösigen , the Kummergebirge and across to the Provodínské Kameny (Mickenhan stones) with the Lysá skála (Kahlstein) . To the north, in the midst of large reeds, the water surface of the Novozámecký rybník (Hirnsener Large Pond) can be seen.
Paths to the summit
The ascent to the castle begins at the village square in Jestřebí and then leads up to the castle at the cemetery. A spiral staircase in the former castle well enables the ascent to the southern, lower castle rock. The northern, higher castle rock is not open to the public.
