Vřísek Castle

The Vřísek Castle , also Žižkův hrad (German Schischkenschloss ) or Vítkovec , is located near Holany ( Caves ) in a game reserve in Dauba's Switzerland in the Czech Republic . It is not open to the public.

history

Little is known about the history of Vřísek. The original Vřísek Castle was probably built on the site of the present castle at the beginning of the 15th century. In the 16th century Vřísek was called desolate.

At the end of the 16th century, Johann von Wartenberg had today's small renaissance castle built in place of the original castle .

After 1945 the small castle fell into ruin . It was not until the end of the 1990s that the building was secured and restored.
