The Okres Česká Lípa (German District Bohemian Leipa ) is located in northern Bohemia and lies between the Bohemian Central Uplands , Jeschkengebirge and Bohemian Paradise . It belongs to the Liberecký kraj ( Reichenberg region ).

103,135 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019) live on 1,073 km² in 57 municipalities, 11 of which are cities, with 196 districts in which 81% of the population lives. The population density of 95 inhabitants / km² is the lowest in the region, the average age of 36.3 is the lowest in the Czech Republic .

53% of the population is employed subject to social security contributions. 40% of employees work in industry. The most important industries are the glass industry and automotive suppliers. Once one of the most important branches of the economy, uranium mining, now hardly plays a role. The average wage is above the average of the district, but is lower than the national average.
