Vrchovany (German Wrchhaben ) is a municipality of the Okres Česká Lípa in the Liberec region in the north of the Czech Republic . The place is 3 km northeast of Dubá (Dauba) on the road to Doksy (Hirschberg am See) on the southeast slope of Berkovský vrch (Wrchhabener Berg) . It is overlooked by the ruins of the castle Stary Berštejn (Altperstein) .
history
The place was first mentioned in 1402. In 1912 the old Slavic farming village had 60 houses on the plateau between Daubaer Schweiz and the Kummergebirge . Wrchhaben was parish in Dauba ; There was a small Assumption Chapel in the village.
Attractions
The Liběchovka rises southwest of the village, in the cut between the Zahájí (Sahai) elevations and the Binderkuppe. On the 358 m high rock hill of the Binderkuppe, above Mlýnek (Kleinmühle) , are the ruins of the St. Barbara Chapel, which was built in 1744 by Anna Katharina Countess von Sweerts and Sporck.
To the south of the village there is a cross on a stone base under a chestnut tree, which was restored in 2005.
Vrchovany was incorporated into Dubá in the 1960s and has been an independent municipality again since 1990. There is a riding stables in the village.
On the territory of the municipality which are deserted villages of monolayer and Rotten U Samot (Rodeland) , Doubí (calibration Hübel) and Panská (Pauska) .
